At a Cabinet meeting at the Town Hall, Monday 1st February the Council voted to accept the motions:
'That Cabinet should resolve to develop an Approval in Principle for a CPO (Compulsory Purchase Order). This approval in principle will lay out in detail all the conditions that, if they are met will enable the Council to make and seal a CPO', and, 'That liaison with HPWRT continues to ensure that they are assisted in drawing down public funding to produce fuller business plans and technical appraisals that might support their future restoration and use of the pier.
What this means is that the Council have cautiously started action towards the legal process of Compulsory Purchase. It is still early days and there is a large amount of work to be done but it does mean that we can start dealing with funders on a more meaningful basis. Specifically gaining initial feasibility funding to appraise the engineering, architecture and business plans. HPWRT

Hastings Pier & White Rock Trust has its New Campaign Base on the White Rock facing the pier. Arthur Green's, one of the few surviving historic shopfronts in Hastings. Its a starting block for their commercial developement. This is a long-term plan to enable local & visitor information, education workshops, ebay trading and a selling point for local artists etc...
